It is strange how we don't think of time as being our most valuable commodity. I know that I tend to waste time. I may procrastinate, or sit around, or say, "well, I will just play this one game," or whatever. Then, before long the day has slipped by and the time is gone- - WASTED! Then, I think back about all the stuff that I wanted to get done and probably could have got done, if I would have just done them. Have you ever felt like that?
And, when someone does something for me, I don't always think about the time that goes into it. Yes, I thank him or her for doing me the kindness. Yet, not often enough do I think of the time that was used to do it…time that was taken out of his or her day, time that was taken away from his or her family, time that was taken away from his or her own goals. Also, I don't always know how much time it may take out of someone's time. Something that I think might only take ten or fifteen minutes, may take an hour. Who knows?
I have thought about time before. I often wonder why wages are so different. I don't think anyone's time is worth more than anyone else's time. I think every person is valuable and everyone's time is valuable. So, why is there such I difference in wages? Some people make minimum wage while others make tons of money.
I mean, yes, some people may have had to go to college while others do not in order to do their jobs. So, maybe those people can ask a reasonable higher way in order to pay their college bills. Some people need to buy resources in order to do their job, so they may have to charge a little more to pay for those resources. Yet, I believe that each person's time is just as valuable as everyone else's time.
So, why am I talking about time now? I did something for someone and didn't feel like my time was valued. Not to worry, I don't feel any different about the person. I just let it go. But… it did get me to thinking and thought it would be a great blog topic.
What are your thoughts about time? Do you feel like your time is valued? Are you thankful and respectful of other people's time? Have you ever thought about time? I would love to hear from you. Thank you for taking the TIME to read this post!
